Course information

The CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care prepares students for advanced roles in the early childhood education sector. This qualification equips individuals with the skills and knowledge required to design, implement, and manage educational programs that foster the development and well-being of young children.

Students are trained to lead and mentor other staff, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure compliance with industry standards. They will be equipped to work autonomously in a variety of settings, including childcare centres, preschools, and family daycare services. With a strong focus on leadership, program management, and the development of children from birth to eight years old, this qualification opens the door to career advancement and positions of responsibility in the early childhood education and care sector.

Entry Requirements
  • Completion of grades 10-12 or equivalent
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) abilities
  • Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of commencement of the course
  • Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Must be able to obtain a federal police check
  • Students require a mandatory influenza vaccine and may also need a COVID-19 vaccine to begin work placement.
  • In order to undertake placement, students must obtain a State/territory working with children check
  • In order to undertake placement, students must obtain a Through Their Eyes Certification (SA only)
