Our CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Traineeship) is designed for those passionate about the care industry and ready to learn while working in a real-world environment supporting individuals with ageing or disability needs. Through the completion of this traineeship, students develop the relevant factual, technical, theoretical, and practical skills required to provide high-quality, person-centred support in the workplace.

This entry-level qualification offers hands-on experience alongside structured learning, giving graduates a strong understanding of the role of a care worker across community and residential settings.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for the course include:

  • Completion of grade 10-12 or equivalent
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) abilities.
  • Must be able to obtain a federal police check
  • Students require a mandatory influenza vaccine and may also need a COVID-19 vaccine to begin work placement.
Course Duration

The nominal duration of this traineeship is 12–24 months.

Actual completion time may vary and is determined by the approved Training Contract, learner progression, workplace opportunities, and any credit or recognition of prior learning granted.

Workplace Requirements
This qualification includes a minimum requirement of 120 hours of practical workplace experience.
For trainees undertaking this qualification under a registered traineeship, workplace evidence and hours completed as part of their employment may be used to satisfy this requirement, provided they meet the qualification and assessment requirements.
Students may still be required to provide evidence such as:
  • A current National Police Check
  • A valid First Aid Certificate (where required)
  • Any additional workplace compliance requirements requested by their employer or host organisation

Eligible Free Apprenticeships Under 25s: $0 

Eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees under 25 years of age may qualify for the Queensland Government’s Free Apprenticeships initiative, resulting in no student contribution fee being payable.
