I Am a Person with a Disability, What Support Services Does Celtic Training Offer?

At Celtic Training, we are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students, including those with disabilities. Here’s how we provide support:

Work Placement
What Is Placement, and Who Organises It?

Vocational placement is an essential part of many qualifications offered at Celtic Training. If your course includes placement, this requirement will be clearly outlined on the course page.

Celtic Training’s dedicated placement officers will organise everything for courses requiring placement on your behalf. This ensures a seamless process and allows you to focus on your studies and preparation.

Celtic Training has established partnerships with businesses and organisations to provide high-quality placement opportunities. If you have a specific placement arrangement in mind, it must first be reviewed and approved by Celtic Training before you begin.

We’re committed to supporting you throughout this process to ensure a valuable and enriching vocational experience!

Can I Use My Workplace for Placement if I Already Work in the Industry?

Yes, there may be an opportunity to complete your vocational placement at your current workplace, provided it meets the required criteria for your qualification.

To ensure your workplace aligns with the course requirements, your trainer will review and advise on the suitability of your current role and responsibilities. They’ll guide you through the process and help ensure your placement is valuable and meets the necessary standards.

If you’re interested in using your workplace for placement, reach out to your trainer when the time comes for further details and assistance.

What Checks or Vaccinations Are Required?

The entry requirements for courses vary depending on the qualification, and all specific details are outlined under the ‘Courses’ menu on our website.

Here are the general requirements to keep in mind:

  • Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Skills (LLN): All courses require students to complete the LLN assessment to identify any additional support needed for success in their studies.
  • Police and Working with Children Checks: Some qualifications may require a police check or a working with children check (e.g., a Blue Card in QLD) to undertake vocational placement. Your trainer will guide you on what’s required for your specific course.
  • Vaccinations: Certain placements or industries may also require vaccinations, depending on the role or location. Your trainer or placement officer will inform you if vaccinations are necessary.

If you have any questions or concerns about these requirements, your trainer will be happy to provide further guidance and support.

What Support Is Available During Placement?

Celtic Training is committed to ensuring students feel supported throughout their vocational placement. In addition to our general student support services, here’s how we assist during your placement:

  • Trainer Communication: Your trainer will stay in contact via email, phone, or Skype to answer any questions, address concerns, and provide guidance during your placement.
  • On-Site Visits: In some cases, your trainer may visit you at the placement location to check in, provide support, and ensure the placement is meeting educational requirements.
  • Educational Outcomes: Your trainer will work with you to ensure the placement is meaningful and aligns with your learning goals. They’ll help you make the most of your experience by monitoring your progress and addressing any challenges that arise.
Can I Put My Trainer or Placement Officer as a Reference?

Yes, you can list your trainer or placement officer as a reference. However, it’s important to note that they can only speak to your abilities and performance within a learning or training environment, not as a workplace colleague or supervisor.

Can I Do the Manual Handling Course on Campus as an Online Student?

Yes, online students can book into an HLTWHS002 workshop, where the Manual Handling component is covered on one of the two scheduled days. However, the exact day this training will take place is determined at the discretion of the trainer or training manager.

To avoid confusion or inconvenience:

  • Confirm the exact date and time of the Manual Handling training with the trainer or training manager before attending.
