Target Group/Participants:

 

Potential clients for this course are both new entrants to the industry who require a broad and comprehensive grounding in the skills required to perform effectively in the industry as well as persons who are currently working in the industry who have not had the opportunity to gain the expected qualification.

This may include:

  • School leavers
  • Unemployed workers
  • Those wishing to gain entry to a different industry sector
  • Persons returning to the workforce following prolonged absence
  • Unqualified workers within the industry sector

 

The Enterprise and Environment:

Care for the Disabled is a growth industry in Australia. It is implemented through a combination of institutional and community care and is expected to conform to high standards applied by the Commonwealth Government, and evaluated by means of audit and inspection.

 

Resources available:

Learning and assessment guides/tools, videos, OHP, workshops discussion, seminars, self learning packages, project guides, classrooms, clinical facilities, clinical experience and facilities negotiated with selected members of the industry, Instructor/student Ratio of less than 1:20.

 

Program Structure:

Combination of Classroom and supervised Clinical Training followed by intensive clinical experience and reinforcement of classroom instruction in an industry environment

 

Delivery Timetable

Flexible delivery is conducted over 8 weeks, with 5 weeks classroom delivery followed by 3 weeks intensive supervised, on the job training with a selected employer. Time tabling may vary for those who need further on the job training to indicate competence in the required skills. For packages with a substantial element of external and self directed learning delivery schedules will be driven by successful completion of competencies.
