Target Group/Participants:
Potential clients for this course are both new entrants to the industry who require a broad and comprehensive grounding in the skills required to perform effectively in the industry as well as persons who are currently working in the industry who have not had the opportunity to gain the expected qualification.
This may include:
- Those wishing to gain entry to a different industry sector
- Persons returning to the workforce following prolonged absence
- Unqualified workers within the industry sector
- Current workers within the industry wishing to expand their career options and skills
The Enterprise and Environment:
Orthopaedic Casting and splinting is a vital skill in all Health environments in Australia, requiring increasing numbers of skilled practitioners and assistance. Opportunities for employment exist in both the private and public sector, as well as within supportive care environments.
Resources available:
Learning and assessment guides/tools, E-learning facility and resources, videos, OHP, workshops discussion, seminars, self learning packages, project guides, classrooms, clinical facilities, clinical experience and facilities negotiated with selected members of the industry, Instructor/student Ratio of less than 1:20.
Program Structure:
Combination of Classroom/E-learning and supervised Clinical Training followed by intensive clinical experience and reinforcement of classroom instruction in an industry environment The mix of classroom instruction vs E-Learning will vary with groups and individuals participating in this program.
Delivery Timetable
Flexible delivery is conducted over 12 months provided the student is working within an environment conducive to developing and reinforcing the competencies required for this qualification, through supervised, on the job training with a selected employer. Time tabling may vary for those who need further on the job training to indicate competence in the required skills. For packages with a substantial element of external and self directed learning delivery schedules will be driven by successful completion of competencies.
